I use LED globes in the Rangie. I was always blowing the brake light globes no matter what quality or brand of globe I bought. Since switching to LED about 3 years ago I have never replaced one. The LED globes are not as bright as a normal globe but I think it is better to at least have a light that works all the time than to often have no brakes lights at all. Sometimes the standard globes would not even last a week.

My experience has been mixed.
I put a tail light unit in my tray and they are great tho I should have spent the xtra and used the Hella Combi Stop tail as they are brighter. I put one in the cab and it died after no more than 5 hrs use. I have a 100mm round 20 led superbright as a reversing light (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/LED-WHITE-Rev...ZViewItem) and it is ok but not brilliant. There is a 4 LED one on the number plate and its ok.
I got a 20 LED work light and within about 10 uses its now down to about 15 leds :eek:.
I'm about to put a couple of white replacement LEDS in my front park lights. This in combination with the numberplate light, the tail light will reduce the current draw to 3 fifths of five eights of stuff all.:D:D:D
As Dave said be aware that they don't have sufficient current draw to fire a flasher unit BUT having said that mine do. I'm not sure if they have enough LEDS to pull a decent current or they have an inbuilt resistor. either way it doesn't matter.

I don't recommend the ones from Jaycar- the ones I put in the bullbar fell apart after about a year. The ones on the websites posted above look better.
Ballast resisitors : all resistors provide a load therefore heat up and use power. In fact a regular incandescent globe is just a resistor designed to heat up so much it glows !! So if you need to put a ballast resistor across the line to simulate the current draw of regular globes, it isn't going to give you much energy saving ( if that's what you're after.)
