Are these boxes (TH400,700r4) more suitable to go behind an Isuzu 3.9 than a ZF 4sp V8 box, have they been modded to be suitable to go behind a 3.9, Regards Frank

I swapped a 300TDi into my 93 RR Vogue. The easiest way to go is get a TDi 300 and auto box as a unit, However you need to be 100% certain that it is a TDi box. This is the way I went but it turned out that the box and TC were actually V8 items. I have now been off the road for 12 months. Hopefully Blknight.au will have me back driving fairly soon after I bit the bullet and got another box and TC... this time guaranteed TDi items.
Anyone looking for a reconditioned ZF and TC to suit V8 ??
Externally I don't think you can tell the difference. The TCs are different in appearance though, once you separate the box from the engine
[QUOTE=Tank;685192 I believe the 3.9's are harsh on autos, they must have unusual power pulses or something, Thanks for the Ideas, Regards Frank.[/QUOTE]
the suzis are harsh on everything, an alison box can be made up to work but you need a super heavy duty torque converter. They dont so much kill the box as mangle the TC.
The Isuzu 3.9's did come with an autobox in some markets, more so the US than this part of the world.
I have yet to lay eyes or hands on one, but the rumour is Aisin.
The later Isuzu diesels were commonly fitted with autos, especially in campervans and for urban delivery. But the fitment is very different and includes a rearward facing starter motor.
