For something different, I saw a site in the UK that was converting the 2.8TD 4M40 mitsubishi motors into RR's. They're a pretty good motor and something I'd be looking at, not sure how to marry up g/boxes though.
Cheers

I was sure it was allison, but a quick search reveals it may have been both:
4bc2,4bd1, eagle1, 4bd1t or 4he1t are good motors you can also use 4d30,4d31,32 or 4d33t from a canter. all motors i mentioned can be mated to allison automatic trans.KOTSE.COM > Isuzu : 4ba1 Vs C240early model automatic you need machine shop to do it for you they will make adapter plate to mate the ford bell housing in the isuzu/fuso flywheel housing. late model isuzu/fuso came w/aisin automatic trans. or a more durable allison.
(it's a Phillipino website - half the posts are in english, half in Tagalog - sometimes in the same sentence!!!).

Slap in a Deutz V8 air cooled diesel.
That way you don't have to worry about the radiator
Or if you want more grunt!
This lovely V12, only used by a little old lady to go to church on Sundays..

A quick google search for this: Stanton 4x4
Not much info on fitment though. I was under the impression they were a strong motor with not much going wrong with them. I know of a few Pajero owners easily getting less than 10km/100 fuel use.
Cheers
I know of two people who owned Challengers with that engine. They both got hit with very expensive fuel pump repairs at low km's. I thought coincidence until I mentioned it on a NZ 4wd website and the only regular there with that engine had the same story.
Fuel economy was around 8-9km/l, that's less than my rangie with the 4BD1T, despite weighing half a ton less and pushing less air.
