A local truck wrecker had a 4BD1T with an Allison auto attached. He wanted what
I thought was an extraordinary amount of money for this. I do not know how you would get a transfer box on to the Allison, and I think the Allison would simply be too bloody big to fit in a Land Rover and leave room for two feet each side.

You want to replace a V8 with a smelly Diesel ? thats crazy talk !! just throw some tools in the engine bay while it's running and keep the handbrake on. You won't be able to tell the difference.

I've booked a "taxi" to come and pick you up with padded walls and they have a nice new jacket for you

Turns out theres some colonials doing this as well...

    Allison or Aisin?
There's talk on IH8MUD about the Aisin boxes, some who think there's enough interchange between the ones fitted to the 4BD1T's and the landcruiser ones to make a landcruiser transfer bolt up.

The 700R4's that isuzudieselswapper.com makes Isuzu adaptors for have kits to fit an LT230. I think the LT230 ends up further rearward though and I can't recall who made that adaptor kit.

possibly tne most easy & efficient way is to sell the v8 vehicle and buy a 300tdi auto, I went this way after considering all the options and havn't been disappointed

BTW, IMHO the most attractive conversion is a classic RR to 300tdi auto
I have my Disco setup just the way I want it, I would have to buy Flares and cut out the guards and swap diffs, front and rear bars, rock sliders, Long range tank, custom seating, and on and on, it would be a bigger job than the actual conversion, Regards Frank

Have looked at that as well, transporting it to my place I'm looking at a grand before I start the conversion, be OK if I lived in a Capital city, Regards Frank.

Yeh, they're a big lump and probably weigh as much as an engine, I have a Ford C6 3 speed that I was going to use on my 427 Ford engine, it would handle the torque all right and a Bronco Transfer case would bolt up as well, can't remember which side the drive flanges are though. I believe the 3.9's are harsh on autos, they must have unusual power pulses or something, Thanks for the Ideas, Regards Frank.

Trouble is my son is over in the boonies on your side of the planet and it is going to cost me over a grand to visit him, ONE WAY, so I figured some Miles Per Gallon were required rather that Gallons Per Mile, LOL, the cab's just pulled up, Regards Frank.
