    oily turbo hose

Have noticed after a recent trip, the hose at the bottom of the turbo (the U shaped one) has a film of oil on it.Its a silicon job, and after tightening and adding an extra clamp its still happening. So, is it possible it has a pinhole in it and where is the oil coming from?? Its almost like the hose is sweating oil as the entire surface is coated in it, and its clean oil, not the black crap thats inside the hose, any suggestions??

Have you done an oil change recently,TD5 filters have been known to need a re-tighten.
Mines got oil everywhere too but I think it may be ACE fluid.

no its definitely coming from the hose and after having another look all my silicone hoses are doing it, yet its not leaking from the clamped ends, the hoses just seem to be exuding an oily fluid.

The 90 deg. hose coming off the turbo on my tdi300 has been doing that since new.
Exactly as you describe, the hose seems to sweat. Took it off when I first noticed it, soaked and cleaned in solvent, replaced and it was oily again in 5000km.
What I do though, is ensure the intercooler is kept fairly clean. Not too much however as I dont trust the standard air filter box, and an oily film over the intake internals grabs a lot of dust which would otherwise end up int the engine internals.

    Interesting Crump.
I only got the oil after the silicone hoses were fitted.Did loose ACE fluid for a while, but it sorted itself and hasnt lost a drop for quite some time.
    The hoses still get oily!!!!
    I regularly degrease(fortnightly) looking for/monitoring the problem!!!

maybe the silicone is acting as a strainer ?? also on mine I have fitted a oil catch can from the tappet cover breather to stop the oil getting to the cooler
