Diff Lock Light comes on when not locked

I have an LT95 with the Vacuum centre diff. Sometimes (and becoming more regular) the diff lock light comes on dim...sometimes gradually getting brighter. I immediatly engage and disengage the diff lock and it goes out for a while before doing it again.

I have checked, and the diff actually doesnt lock when this happens, so it must be electrical.

My question is: is this a common problem? I will investigate the wires and switch, but has someone else had this problem?

not super common but Ive changed a couple of switches because of it.

its most likely a gradual build up of oil in the switch causing it to short and occasionally Its been enough contamination and oil on top shorting the pins to earth.

^^^ yep, quite common, BUT, don't replace the switch, it can be carefully pryed apart and cleaned out, then put back together with a smear of goo and refold and it will last another 20 years
