I have taken out all the other bits relation to the air conditionair and now only have the air pump and the 2 hoses that fed the air conditionair. From this point, I have NO IDEA how to change the pump into endless air compressor. Does anyone have details on hopw to do this (im talking about details for dummies with photos) or a link to a site that explains whats needed? On our last trip, it took a good 30min to refill 5 vehicles using 2 external 12vol comperssors, plus im not going to buy one if I have endless air.
So, any info please is muchly appreciated.

Hmmm, can get photos later.
I used a standard disco 300tdi air con unit, it bolted to the 300tdi block and I had it in shed...
I put a t-piece off the air intake (between air filter and inlet manifold) for the supply line using flex rubber hose, which I ran through an in line oiler to the inlet line on the compressor.
Then the high pressure side: standard disco fittings from compressor, cut flex hose then used a barbed hosetail into the old A/C dryer. Barbed hose tail from dryer to high pressure air hose through to quick connect at rear of fender. (I will t-piece in a tank at some stage between dryer and quickconnect)
Now the cheap and simple compressor control, into the tapped hole in the dryer (old pressure switch) a 3/8th fitting can be encouraged to seal and a 150psi pressure relief valve into that...
So I flick the switch which gives the A/C clutch its 12V and starts pumping air, about 5 seconds later the system is up to 150psi and the relief valve opens and blows off excess pressure... compressor just keeps pumping.
I can use a rattle gun no dramas without a tank but it only rattles one wheel nut with the air at 150psi in the dryer... once I plumb in say even a 10L tank under the tray it will be sweet.
In regards to airing up it is as fast as my single cylinder puma in the shed at airing tyres... i pressume the valve is the limiting factor not the air supply.
Just need to keep the inline oiler topped up!

oh yeah, i have no evidence that my system wont kill the compressor or blow up but it hasnt in the last 6 months????

On my 76 2 door rrc I just cut the hoses off the compressor and fitted a long hose down to the rear to a tank. The intake is poked through the firewall which I put a few drops of oil in every couple of uses.
Attach a filter to the low pressure side of the compressor. (used to have the thicker pipe attached) Sintered nylon Air tool silencers available from Goyen, SMC, Parker/Hannifin are ideal. Alternatively nipple and hose with remote attachment to engine air filter box will also work. Nitto fitting to match your hose fittings on the high pressure hose (used to be the small pipe). BArb only not the quick connect end. A rubber cap may be handy for this barb.
You will need a relay, fuse and switch,(in dash or underbonnetfor the switch)

Here is an idea.
You say you are converting an exsisting aircon setup to an air compressor,is I correct???
If so leave the aircon condensor in situ,run the compressed air thru it,will serve 2 purposes,will cool the compressed air(always hot) and act as a small air tank.
What do the brains trust think???

I made the 1 millionth AULRO post
that will work for a while but the build up of moisture inside the tank willclag it if you dont tap it near the bottom..
Id grab a small pressure tank like the accumulator off of some small electric forklifts a defunct pony bottle or a small co2 extinguiser and use that in place of the reciever drier from the aircon.
Theres a rocking thread on doing this very conversion somewhere on the forum and it includes using a compressor coil to cool the air and a heap of other stuff to make the setup about as good as I think you could do it using an aircon compressor.
