Assuming its not a stage 1, then yes it's OK the front shaft isn't driven until you engage 4WD.
It's not that much of a problem for the stage 1 either, you would just need to engage the centre diff lock.

Just a quick question,
Can i drive my series 3 with the front prop shaft taken out and not cause any dramas with the suspension geometry?
i'm 90% sure it is not a problem but i thought i would check just in case.

should have asked about it while you were around helping out with my trailer bearings.... could have had it off using the air tools and my 1/4 inch drive sockets in no time...

I adjusted the brakes on the landy properly this arvo too. heaps better now
