abs solution..and a win for the hip pocket!

    hi all
a week ago some of you might have read the ongoing saga of the damage i incurred while playing at cityview.
the wash up is i broke the rear axles on both sides, the rear left flange, the front left axle & the front left CV.
after replacing it all the abs & tc lights were still on the dash & an attempt by knights house of rover to clear them with the plug in pc failed (at $88.00 to try.)
in frustration we booked a time to have it looked at & i was told to expect big bucks to replace both front modules.(this was what the pc decided was wrong.)
in more frustration i got under the truck on the weekend & discovered that i could remove the sensor from the cv housing with a gentle pry with a screwdriver & then clean it with a rag & reposition it in the hole & once i drove the car above 10kmh it cleared the faults off hte dash lights also!! result!!
unfortunately i still have to pay the $88.00 for the failed attempt to clear it but at least i'm not replacing perfectly good sensors.
just a story for the wary out there.

Sensor air gaps are a basic first check in any RRC/D1/Def ABS system when a fault is logged or if the bits have been apart etc. I'm annoyed you had to find it yourself, as this is the FIRST thing to check/ adjust when diagnosing this particular fault in these vehicles. Still, it's satisfying finding and rectifying the fault yourself isn't it?
