    Idle speed fluctuations

When idling at traffic lights in "D", I sometimes experience a slight ripple in the idle speed on my 300Tdi Disco. Since shifting into neutral stops allows a normal idle speed, I'm assuming that the load on the engine is not static when idling in drive. I know that the autobox needs a fluid a filter change badly, but what else could cause an occasional fluctuation in idle speed.

there have been earlier threads rcently that included this... as I remember it has to do with pump settings - mine does it and I've never worried about it

    AIR Blknight.aus explained it

try a search here on 300tdi + pump or idle speed

    regards - Laurie

My 300TDI manual fluctuated at idle due to the lift pump being faulty. It can fail without you noticing it. Relatively cheap and easy to replace yourself.
