    Long Range Tank Question?

    Hi Guys;

    I'm Planning on putting in a long range tank on the disco 300tdi , I was just wondering what people have ?

    I had a look at Long Range Automotive website;

    Long Range Automotive - [L/Rover]

    from what I can see it's a 145L replacement?

    or do people recommend something else.

    I've got the Long Ranger in the Defender, which is very good. I suppose the LRA ones are comparable, however the LRA ones are made in Melbourne and the Long Ranger ones in Sydney, maybe you could save some freight money etc by buying direct locally. - I'm not sure how they compare for price, but worth investigating the option.

    Now would the long ranger or LRA ones be a direct replacement of what I have already got or would there be an auxillary with the main tank , IIRC a while back someone mentioned the Long ranger tank have a main&Aux? would I be correct in saying this?

    If it's anything like the D2, the LRA comes as a pair, and the Long Ranger comes as a main, and then you buy the companion tank also.

    I've got a LongRanger on my 130 (120L) but there is an annoying design issue, in that the bottom of the tank slopes upwards, which means that my pump can't pick up the last 8 or 10 litres in the tank.

    One day when I get brave I am going to cut the steel floor below the pump and weld in a V section so the bottom of the pump sits flat, and it will then hopefully access the last few litres.

    Apart from that - no problems with the tank though.

    I would recommend sill tanks. This helps distribute the weight more evenly to all wheels, especially as you already have a heavy ass kaymar rear bar.
    If you don't need 2 sill tanks maybe you could get one as a water tank ?

    mate that's the sort of thing i was after , so with the design issue will I be better off going with a LRA tank instead , I know Michael above mentioned that they are in melb etc?
