Guys, I think pressurising the seat box is a bad idea!

I have had issues with the ecu on mine...

The ecu harnesses are long enough to re position them fairly easily. Having said that I know some of you dont have teh bulkhead behind teh seats but if you do you can do this.

Why do you think it is a bad idea?

Few reasons. I dont really think it will work very well. They leak very badly if you park them in 4ft of water.

You would also have to seal the lid as otherwise all the air would just come out the top. Then thats going to make it difficult to get access to the ecu and fuses and so on.

It also just adds pointless complication.

Only my opinion, but a lot of the Uk competition td5's are the same as mine.

That's the problem, where do you move it to?

There are aftermarket loom extensions available too.

They can't go up in the headlining, the heat shortens the life. Otherwise the factory woulds put them there. Anywhere in the cabin its in the way. Under the bonnet may suffer some heat soak too.

Whem my seat box filled up with water, it still ran. The ECU stayed dry internally. It was the fuel regulator that stopped, 3 days later.

Fitting a bilge pump from a boat shop has crossed my mind, never got around to it..

With the Puma Defender - the driver's side seat box contains the Secondary Fuses - the ECU is on the upper firewall and is a fully sealed unit - it won't leak. ;)

Psimpson, I think we will have to agree to dissagree :)

The way I want to do it is very simple. I dont plan to make the lid watertight, I would only replace the factory rubber.
