No clunk, no noise, no change in engine note or revs, no pull, no nothing. It's like I haven't moved the gear lever (except it is out of Park). I've double checked and the lever on the side of the auto box is changing position with the gear lever movement.Quote:

Only guessing coz i`m not there and it`s only something to consider in your search .
It`s possible you can`t get low range because the auto`s not turning and in turn the transfer .
It`s not unheard of for the splines that live in the converter be removed from the shaft or a similar problem .
This has everything happening as usual but drive is lost , not much noise if any .
Some have described it as clunk and buzz then none but not much more .

Hi Dave, if you can push the truck with the auto in neutral (high range in transfer case), but it wont move when put into park, then the problem is with the auto trans :eek: as the drive is getting from the auto to the wheels. Have you checked the oil level in the auto?
Ladas - Thanks for your reply. I'm pretty sure since I've got the cover off the transfer box and I can see and feel the locking collar engage in high range.

Jimbo - Thanks for your reply. I'll check that in the morning. I confess I've never bothered checking the fluid level the way it says in the handbook - I've just checked the dipstick for fluid and if it's present and not a strange colour then I'm happy.
i am curious to see the outcome of your problem i had identical symptoms in mine 100kmh down highway then nothing this was at xmas time sadly time and $$ means my poor disco is still parked up only difference with mine is i had no tell tale signs or cluncks before or after as i said i will be watching with interest good luck with it
