300tdi upgrades
hey all,
after driving my mates fully worked td5 disco and jumping into my 300tdi i am feeling a little inadequate in the power department
do you think a std td5 intercooler can be made to fit into a disco s1?

There was someone on here that had a water to air intercooler which I think would be the way to go as it doesnt rely so much on the ambient temp but as far as the TD5 intercooler goes, sorry I dont know, Ive never looked at one

not easily.
a bigger intercooler on it's own won't do much, unless you increase the fuelling to take advantage of the increased charge density.
Better off doing the pump mods, and maybe exhaust mods, then a larger i/c. I have the pump adjusted and a 3" exhaust. The exhaust alone dropped EGT's by over 20*.
Best instructions ever written for fiddling with the 300tdi fuel pump are here http://www.aulro.com/afvb/attachment...ng-20rev.2.pdf
BTW, jase on the forum builds a larger 300tdi i/c that slots into the standard position.
PWR builds one too, as well as having their water/air barrel coolers, and ARE in Brisbane can supply either an air/air or water/air. IIRC Bush65 has a water/air one of theirs.

yep i know all that but i am not going to mod the fuel pump till i have my egt gauge this is all a lead up to it.
I was thinking of putting the radiator out of my v8 in to the disco and then fitting the the td5 I/C in front of it and running on thermo fans so i can bring the rad closer to the engine and not have to worry about hitting it with the engine fan.
