    Compression Test 3.9 1995 Discovery

I am having starting problems with my discovery, completed a compression test results 130/135 psi cold across all cylinders. It that OK for an engine with 190,000 KLMs?

Also, put the plugs back in started (cold) and ran OK, turned it off and it would not start. ??? Turns over OK. Tomorrow I will check to see if the fuel pump is working. Any other suggestions - I think i may be coil related???

130 odd is good for these, as they are a low comp engine anyway. The non starting issue:I bet you have fouled plugs. Take them out and they will be dripping in fuel. One thing never to do with a fuel injection Rover V8 is start it from cold, move it 10 feet then shut it off. It'll foul up the plugs very easily.

The Isuzu 110. Solid and as dependable as a rock, coming soon with auto box😊
The Range Rover L322 4.4.TTDV8 ....probably won't bother with the remap..😈

    Hmm.
Does your D1 have the factory 2 button remote for the alarm? If so, I suspect the alarm spider. The easy way to check, is if you have low voltage(5 or 6V) or no voltage at the coil +ve. Try then jumping a wire from the batt directly to the coil and it should start. BUT, In the V8 D1, the spider cuts off the supply to the coil, the injector pulse, fuel pump and cranking circuits, independently of each other. These units eventually succumb to old age and volt drop through them and open circuits are common. There is a bypass loom plug available, and it is a pain to reach behind and under the radio.

This isn't always fitted to early d1's, I think a 1995 might just be one of the first.

    Best of luck with it

Thanks - It is a 95 update with no remote/alarm.
