BD upgrade with no low down
Hi Tomie,
I have exactly the same problem as Toby, I rang MR Automotive in Redcliffe who installed it and they suggested that it should have low down power and their could be an issue with an air flow meter or similar.
I will take it to a dealer to rule out all other possible problems, if it is found that there isn't any other issues can the ECU be reflashed back to normal setting or settings that have some low down crawl power?
Who would you suggest would be best for this?
Thanks Kris

Toby,
I think Brad M maybe on the money here. I have a BD chip in mine (Defender 2006, larger intercooler, large exhaust) and when I first aquired it about 4 yr ago it responded just as you describe - nothing till 2000 then whoosh - most disconcerting.
Since then I have removed EGR had to play with the wastegate (which periodically sticks) and got a new MAF. It is much more manageable now - a lot, lot smoother. I was thinking of a remap but now think it is OK. So I'd suggest a mess about before you go down the route of a remap, deffinately get a nanocom on it and to check things over and make sure all the fuelling sensors are working OK.
BTW - if you have a remap I'd really recommend monitoring EGT's, seriously changed my driving style, you don't know the damage you could be doing.
And MickG - I have the same. Not off a flat start, that doesn't bother it, but put it on any reasonable incline and I'm in low range to get moving or have to feather the clutch, most annoying.
