    Narva led light power supply

Has anyone out there got one of the NARVA see easy hand held led lights....

the items part number is 71302 and its marked as having a NiMH 3.6v battery pack.

What I need to know is what is the output voltage of the 240v plug pack.

I was given a found one at cooma which didnt have any of the chargers ATM Ive been imitating a brute force charge by plugging it into a 6v charger for an hour (which is about the limit for a 3.6v nimh AA battery set) from what I reckon is nearly flat but I only get about a 25minute run time from it...

I know its got some kind of charging regulator in it but I dont know what its configured for input wise and dont want to blow it out as its been really handy so far.

    Cheers.

3.6v, just plug it into a Nokia or cordless phone charger.

Dunno what will happen, but they all run 3.6v.

The nokia chargers have the wrong socket on them, thought of that and depending on model are either 4.5, 5, 6,9 or 12v outputs (I know I have one of each in front of me) ATM Im using a regulated multivolt plug pack on 6v.

There you go. Just checked the one I'm using at the moment and it 5.7v.

Always thought Nokia chargers were all the same.

Can't sleep for the damage I must have done to my Nokia phones by interchanging the great pile of chargers I've acquired.

    Cheers

I lost my led narva light down at Polo flats... Is it black and have the button just under the lights and ridges along the handle for grip? Oh and a belt clip on the back?

Can't give you the direct answer but the replacement spare part for the charger is only around $20.00

yeah but when I have no fewer than 15 unused power supplies why buy another one if I have one of the same voltage.

    Hey Dave,

Your like me. I thought the rustling in the shed at night was the Ghecko's but it actually the little power supplies breeding. I now have a decent sized removalist box half full.

Can't help with the supply tho, I have (had) a black 30 LED light ans becasue with minimal usage its now down to a 18 LED light I returned to the magazine publishers for replacement.

I seem to rember it being 5.6v @ 500m Amps

dave can we assume the 3.6 volt battery pack has 3 x 1.2v cells?

anyway, the simple maths is to apply 1.6v per 1.2v cell, so 3 cell battery packs need about 4.8 volts...

so how long do you charge for? well again you can get this from the battery pack - it should say how many mAH the capacity is? the chargers are typically about 66% efficient, thus you must apply roughly 1.5 times the mAH capacity of the battery in "charging effort". so a 1000mA charger will take roughly 4 hours to charge a 2500mAH battery pack.

unfortunately there are limits to how far you can push the cells without them overheating during the charging process, thus you can't (typically) use a 4000mA charger @ 4.8volts for 1 hour to charge the same battery pack...

all theoretical numbers used, but you can use them to get the principle
