Serpentine belt tensioner, 300TDi

It would be interesting to see why your rig's belt is tight with a 1595 belt. I found a listing via Google in that the T12030 was mentioned in a Scandinavian website as the correct part for the 300tdi- it even looked like the right bit. If you were in sydney you could try out my spare tensioner - it sounds like something else is wrong. As for greasing the fan pulley hub bearing, I've managed to wriggle a grease needle sideways past the rubber seal and inject some grease into it. A pic of the front of your engine would be good, as afaik the alternator can't be moved to take up the slack in the serpentine belt.

Hey Langy, the stock Marelli alternator has been tossed for a 100A Bosch.
When I bolted it on I scored some brackets from a dunnydore and used those.

The modified upper brackets have elongations in them, so it can move enough for belt tension. Just have to be careful the engine doesn't strike the intercooler pipe.

So it is adjustable, but not by heaps. So I will also use that damn tensioner to provide a little adjustment as well.

Have decided to go nuts and have tossed the fan and pulley as well as the idler mech. Time to fit those EF Ford fans I've had lying around. This will also give me room to install the engine oil cooler I've been wondering where to put.

I'll just get a shorter belt and make the alternator be the tensioner.

Nah, alternator position was within a poofteenth of being the same and I used the original pulleys. The adjuster was almost at the very end of it's adjustment with the too long belt, so the tension on the belt was too much even though it was about out of adjustment. Mongrel thing.....

So no dice on that one!

Will scoot up some pics once the belt arrives. It's a special order, 7pk 1375.......

I pulled a new one off the shelf this arvo at my local LR specialist's workshop.

The Dayco APV1004 box was also labelled ERR4708.

Thanks Ron, looks like the wrong part was put on my car....

Anyways the bearing in the timing case is rooted and I aint pulling that off until the next cam belt in around 60,000kms........

So we are set on our course. Plasma cutter **** itself, so couldn't finish making some brackets tonight.... More delays...

Replaced mine, just ordered it thru the local bearing shop.
The cost was around $98.00 compared to LRs' $$$$$$
