I also have a Scangauge II, and it's interesting to note my car is running a slightly higher 'hot temp so far of 100 to 101 degrees. Not high enough to worry about, I hope.
My concern is that while the Scangauge gets info stright from the sensor, if the sensor is not reading anything out of order as the coolant level is too low, what use is the Scanguage?

Yes I thought the name might raise a few eyebrows but fear not I love my Landy just wish it was as reliable as a cruiser.
As for the warnings well next time I'll trust myself more. I had a Landrover expert (apparently) look at it twice and both times they flushed it and didn't find a problem?
As for the low water alarm well it arrived all neatly packaged and bubble wrapped. It all looks pretty good. I'll get digital photo and post it this weekend. It requires a small (17mm) section of hose to be cut out and then the unit just slips in and hose clamps on. A light and a buzzer is then fitted into the cabin and the power drawn from a fused source tied to the ignition.
I tend to agree - what is the use of attaching a different reading device to a sensor which sits too high in the water table - nonetheless I am grateful for people's views.
I hope the block is still up to it because it is still there albeit with reco heads. All seems well. I am not sure how much they shaved off the head or how much better the valves are seated but the compression must be up a little as the compression braking is more noticeable.
