side light / head light / indicator issue

So what might cause me to no longer have side lights, headlights, or indicators in my RRC?

Full beam, horn, brake lights and wipers are OK.

    Any ideas???

faulty combination switch(the wand u use to turn them on) this was a problem in my kf laser a couple of years ago. pulled the unit apart and cleaned the contacts and all was well again. perhaps even one of the wires in it has gotten a dry joint or detached

I'll check it out and give it a good clean.
What's best for or cleaning it?

i just used some fine grit sand paper. its like the days of cleaning ur scaletrix tracks. its very much the same thing. arcing must cause some sort of carbon build up and it blocks the contacts from creating a circuit. the fact that the blinkers dont work either(do the hazard light?) means that if it is the combo switch, perhaps its just a simple wire or two that have lost connection. once pulled off and apart, u'll be able to see.

Unhappy Tinkered a bit but still nothing !

Well I'm sort of getting there but now I'm stuck
I now have side lights and full beam & high beam but still no indicators argghhhhh !

The lights was a dodgy joint where 6, (yes six) wires all connect together. I replaced the joint and they now work.

The indicators though still nothing, hazards work OK.
I cleaned the contacts, nothing, then replaced the indicator stalk with my spare.
From what I can see there are no after manufacture connections and they all look sound under the steering column.

My next step would be to re-solder all the good joint incase one is dry?

    Any other ideas????
Are there any connections that might cause this elsewhere, (ie not under the ignition shroud)?

May be the flasher can is gone. I know mine has a seperate flasher unit for the hazards which would explain why they work and the indicators don't.

Hi Andy, yer I know I'm a little dumb but what do you mean?
Check the terminations at the trailer socket?

I'll have a look in the manual tonight and see if I can find it, I know the hazard unit is under the dash behind the steering column.
If it was the flasher would it not just come on but not flash?

    Hi Steve
If you have a tow hitch you should have a socket to plug the trailer electrics into.
If you have one check all is well, they are easily damaged off-road,dismantle it if need be A tug on the wire by a stick can cause a short that could be your issue.
A nasty trick for soemody you dislike is to pop a 5 cent piece in the socket, they will be chasing the cause of blown fuses for ages.
