    Gday

Can't help with Sydney but I know someone in Albury/Wodonga. No too helpful for you though...

I am keen to see some images of your setup. Can you tell us a little about it.

It's in a TVR Road car.. unfortunately not a LR/RR.

The megsquirt install has been a FANTASTIC learning experience. The whole learning curve has given me better understand of how my car works.. and no more 14CUX. I am not a engineering whiz.. just a logical chap who can solder and read.

I tested the unit on a bench before making a loom from an old ECU..so it just plugs in. Installed a Tech Edge WB sensor/controller.. then some months later got an EDIS-8 kit of ebay..and a trigger wheel from the UK.

It's taken 9 months on and off.. I stil wanted to drive the car so everything was designed to work in parrallel with the ECU/disti

It's solid, reliable and make a substancial difference to HP and torque...and again a great learning curve.

If you are willing to travel, Hunter Gas (the old ex-LR dealer Modern Motors) in Dungog has a dyno. Murray Rumble and Derek Watkins are pretty approachable.

Or Graeme Cooper has one, too.

There's a dyno place on Chalder Street Marrickville. Dunno if they do Megasquirt, there are usually lots of WRX, etc. parked out the front.

    Cheers

Glad to see someone converting a Rover V8 motor to MS!

I have a little different project, swapping a Range Rover 4.0 and Borg Warner T-5 in place of the 2.3 four cylinder in my '91 Ford Ranger 2wd pickup. I saved this little truck from a next day appointment with the car crusher. A blown head gasket and a few rust bubbles combined with the high price of scrap steel last year threatened it with extinction. It's a std cab short box, (6 ft), should be near 2600 lbs when done so with my exhaust and tuning I expect a spirited ride!

The 4.0 is a '98 and distributorless however, the 36-1 trigger is integrated into the flexplate for the Rangie's autobox. Since I have to run a custom flywheel, (as well as a custom bellhousing), to mate the 4.0 to the Chevy Camaro clutch, (and T-5), I had to find a solution to replace the factory ignition.

I also needed a way to run the injection that allows tuneability for later upgrades. I'm hoping to apply some boost in the future to add a bit more excitement, probably a Vortech V-2 SQ centrifugal... Santa are you listening??? :-)

After some searching I found the Mega Squirt site and it looked like an affordable solution. I now have all the pieces for the EDIS-8 conversion plus the MS relay board. The relay board will allow me to wire everything up, then the ECU will be a plug in and done affair, (once I can afford it). Of course, that will be the easy part, then comes the tuning. I'm Planning an MS II 3.57, fully assembled from DIY Autotune.

Here are some pics of "Project Silver Bullet"...

    Out with the Four...

Discovering the light weight of the Buick 215 mock up pieces...

After confirming the 215 fit, acquired a Range Rover "4.6" which turned out to be a 4.0 with 4.6 plenum... bummer! Oh well... test fit... snug!

Looks like it was made for the Ranger...

    A bit more together...

Some pics of the 36-1 trigger conversion...

The MS doesn't require a cam position sensor so a plug was machined to block the opening...

I love that the damper is also the pulley, the compactness of the front drive setup makes it ideal for the Ranger's short underhood length...

Still alot to do but making progress.
