I spent 30-40 hours on my heads with a lot of work on the inlet and exhaust bowls and shortened guides to the inlet roof . I got 7% more BHP, and I am confident that the theory of what I did was very sound.
I feel the most gain is from the exhaust port bowl as this is visually the worst area with BAD casting slippage , and also the inlet bowl and guide size reduction.
You can port match the manifold in a few minutes with a die grinder after stuffing the ports with rags. The line of the gasket will give a guide if you do it before the heads are cleaned.
There are many crooks out there that will take your money for a cosmetic job, so make sure they have a flow bench and know how to use it. If not give them a miss.
Be prepared to spend at least a 1K for the porting alone.
