    Discovery 1 Wheel Nuts

    Gurus,

Probably a stupid question however I have done a quick search and have been unable to find the answer.

Do the wheel nuts that fit the alloy rims for a Discovery 1 fit the steel rims? Reason I ask it would seem that the wheel nut covers would seem out of place on the steel rims.

I only ask as I am going to swap my alloy rims for steel and I need to know if I need new wheel nuts to match.

    Thanks in advance.

The Shank on the Alloy Nuts is larger. (That is to say the "hole" in the alloys where the stud comes through is bigger.)
You will need the correct steel wheel nuts.

The alloy wheel nuts can be used on the steel wheels. However they will look crap.

If you are swapping your alloys for steelies then why aren't you swapping wheel nuts as well? (assuming you are physically swapping your wheels with someone).

Depends on the alloy wheels - certainly some aftermarket wheels and their associated nuts cannoy be used on steel wheels.

Certainly the RRC alloy nuts without the steel covers do not fit steel wheels. They do not have a taper at the endand hold the wheel with the washer immediately under the nut top.
Locking nuts are usually bi use but would be ugly.
So look at you nuts and see if the ends taper.
