    vauge steering after lift

    Hi,

    I've recently put a 2" lift under my Series 1 300TDi Disco,

Now the steering has become vague, and it doesn't self centre properly,

I didn't think anything else needed doing for a 2" lift other than springs and shocks.

Has anyone had this happen/know of a resolution?

Its kind of scary to drive at the moment!

    Cheers

    Paul

That's what happens when you screw the castor angle up

Castor bushes for you my friend, or slotted swivel hubs, or cranked arms

I'd it bushes for such a moderate lift and ease of install

Or drop the front 1/2 inch and it will be much better.
Maybe drop out the rubber insulators if you have them in the front.

    Yep

Haven't done a lift myself yet, but Rovercare is on the money man.

Some castor bushes should sort you out and have you steering like a dream again ..... i got a qoute for a lift and the bushes were part and parcel of it. some say you can get away without them on certain lift kits, but it's best to put them in ....

Kinda defies the point of a 2" suspension lift

Sounds like bushes it is, as I have got access to a press but not a mill,

How do I work out how much to go or is there a rule of thumb?

And the biggie, any recommendations where to get them from, I'm in Sydney but on small items freight shouldn't be a worry.

Caster bushes will do you fine for 2" Any higher is best done with slotted swivels or Uni joint will complain

If you really want to know 100%, go get a front end alignment and get the print out, it should be -3degree's standard

Or just buy castor bushes and fit them

EDIT: maybe its +3 degree, either way, its 3

I think I'll send it in for an alignment, I've never asked for the report before, should any tyre mob be able to give me one?

As tempting it is to just fit the bushes...
