Yep... My money would be on the cheaper option first. Just coz other electrical components are working doesn't mean a whole lot as the starter does draw a lot of power!!!Quote:

Starter seems to be fine at the moment after checking and cleaning everything . still not winding over as fast it used to but it is getting down to 2c over night here :eek:.
So what was the diagnoses Mick ??
I've had a lot of problems with Tdi's in cold weather, and find that an extra earth lead from the battery to one of the bolts holding the A/C compressor on to the timing case helps/ fixes it. Usually, the braided earth lead is the culprit. It is the one from the chassis to the starter motor bolt, and deteriates with time, causing a fair bit of resistance.

Do we have wading plugs fitted????????????? also maybe signs of the selinoid starting to die and can be changed very easily
