Hey All
My BFG All terrains are totally shagged and I now run muddies offroad and for touring, so I in the market for some new highway terrain tyres. I am not interested in the ATs at all as these tyres will only see around town and highway service.
I would love to get some Michelins or Pirellis, but am open to other options. Anyone have good things to say about their tyres? Are they good, cheap, wear well etc etc?
Finally, anyone in Melbourne recommend a good cheap supplier?

Have had my 2000 D2 for 3 months and it came with the standard Michelins. Can't vouch for their longivety but other than that they are fine. Am changing to Cooper ST's as I don't see too much black stuff here.

onr of he guys at work got some new HT's on his rangie, they looked the goods to me with just enough meat in them to deal with gravel as well I'll get the brand tomorrow

Go down to Tyrepower and get some Toyo Opats. They are AT but better on the road than most. The tyre shop was not joking when he said they would outperform my Michelin Synchrones in every way and they were at least $100 a tyre cheaper. Highly recomended for road and minimal bush use.

Thanks all for your comments. Im thinking of pricing the michelins...I will probably be put off on the price, but I have never heard anyone pay out on the synchrones or the original xpc's. The pirelli will likely be a fall back as I have priced these at about $260-280.

Synchrones don't exist anymore - they now have something called a Latitude Tour HP. Seem to much the same - aimed at Highway use.

I forgot to mention that from memory the ones the bloke at work bought they were only about $160 a tyre fitted. I was a little sus but they met the speed and load rating for the rangie.

Toyo M55 A/T (opat?)seem to be the choice of a lot of commercial/ government vehicles in hard road areas. I asked the tyre shop at Cooktown a few years ago what they sell locally, they were impressed with these.
I have found they do them in a 255/85/16 (33") and will possibly get these when the MT's wear out, as they are a 12ply.
