is the CAN bus the actual engine ECU? i have 2 engine errors and one is tx/rx can bus and the other is pathway error or something similar.

the car is runnig fine. i just went out and restarted it from dead cold and no rattles, smoke or any dramas in 15 mins of idling and brief revs up to 2500rpm. no fluid mixing either, and still no trace of water in engine oil. it isnt at all milky or gritty. trans ecu is soaked though. have just cleaned it out and wd40'd both parts. tomorrow i'll start work on the carpets and getting the oils replaced.

you will have to lift the carpet up off the floor squeeze what water you can out of the sound proofing material (it absorbs the water) once you have done that you can leave the carpet lifted and use a fan heater to dry it out or leave it out in the sun with doors open and carpet lifted to get the air under it.

Also newspaper will draw the water out slide a few pages between the floor and carpet took me a week to dry mine out.

Go to the local hire place and get a dehumidifier ( how ever you spell it) shut that in the back cloase all doors and windows, for 24 hours.

if you cant fined one ring a carpet cleaner and ask where to get one.

then follow up a couple of days latter with a ozone generator, to kill all the if any mold spors and bacteria in the carpet

coles crossing. we came from the finniss(sp?) river end today. that was very big. flowing fast and just lapping over the bonnet that should have been clue enough as to the state of the waterhole at the other end... when we got to it, we tested the depth with sticks and decided it wasnt too high. turns out though that the ruts were huge and i got beached on my diffs. again just at the top of the bonnet height.

thanks for the drying tips stevo and clean32.

    Hi Simon,

Bugga about the flooding. Must admit that would be my worst nightmare as my Disco is my work daily driver. Do you know how you got so much water inside? Was it cos you opened the door?? or through the slits in the rubber seals.

Good luck with the clean out.

    Cheers

water came through the door seals. not just the slits either i dont think. i kept the doors closed, but i was stationary in the water for about 2 mins waiting for a tow out. i could see it coming through on the passenger door on the vertical part of the door, just above the speaker area.

ive just finished stripping the cars interior. not all that hard or time consuming actually. would i do any harm if i took the 3 carpets to a laundromat to wash and dry them?

You say you had a little bit of water in the and was gone when you checked it at home, you may want to check the centrifuge as it could have seperated the water out of the oil, if it was me I would change the centrifuge and oil filter just in case.

    Regards

    Zelko
