Problems with fitting tyres to LR rims

Our fitters here also coment they can be a trick to seat. I have never had a drama and have had Rovers here since 1948. I fit all the tray backs my self when a repair is needed and as mentioned before. Clean the rim and tyre. Add lube and NEVER exeed max pressure. I wonder how they go with ATV tyres. They are harder again:eek:... Your fitters need to go back for Training before they kill someone.:mad: Tony

Well this guy was claiming it was the Land Rover rim design that was going to kill someone one day, however he totally ignored the fact that he exceeded the max pressure...

This type of thing is very common.People,I won't call them tradesman just don't know or don't care and most times work just isn't done right.Why this is I don't know but using your brain just isn't in vogue these days.Wages have never been higher but the quality of work has never been lower. Pat

EXELLENT this is exactly what is happening in many trades.In the trade i am in it is happening ALL the time and is extremely frustrating.

sorry to get off the original thread here,but we have these types or whatever you call them....trying to teach the youngies,so its allgoing round in circles....time for another thread.

They're tyre fitters, if they were smarter, they wouldn;t be tyre fitters:wasntme:, the only smart one is the owner, paying peanuts to nuffys to do the hard work:D

I dont know if thats quite fair...It was the guy in charge that told the "nuffies" to do it. You cant blame a young guy for not being taught right. And to his credit, the guy that did them stuck at it...

Just cause you do a manual job doesnt mean your a dummy...I work in a office as a professional and I dont think Im smarter or more talented because of it.

Trust me, smart fitters don't stay fitters forever, I went from frying tyres on a weekly basis:burnrubber:, to running them off rims and building wierd things and changeing stuff over.......................I've spent most peoples lifetimes worth in tyre stores

I've been through most of the local fitters and front end aligners, the good ones don;t last, I have one now and hope he stays, he's been a while and the bloke who's business it is, who I know, treats him well, but its still not enough coin to keep someone with half a brain forever

I'm not into politically correct stuff, there are people stupidurrrrrrr than I and people smarter than I, the quicker most people realise that, the better off they are:D.............unfortunately some people need to realise, there is only the smarter than them people:Rolling:

Angus,
Have a Disco 2 with alloy rims. As noted above, seems issue is the extra groove where the bead sits. Next time away (on long trip) intend to take a tyre and rim not just an extra casing.

There are two bead types, either your tubeless type, or split ring ala Toymota Hand Bruisers.

Somehow me thinks the air pressure exceeded his IQ. Either that or the guy was dyslexic.....
