yep, to install a sals in a SWB you have to move the mounts when I moved mine I bolted them to a dummy frame so they were in the same alignment then rolld the sals under and guestotilted it till it looked right, tacked it and called in a pro welder to make em permanant...

ok then cool, my preference would be to use a sals. i have a spare sals housing lying around so i will look into moving the mounts on it for practice :cool:

how do you think the prop angles and spline movement would go with parabolics on the sals? the paras do sit a bit higher :eek:

Sals halfshafts (axles) are shorter - which is why you would need custom axles.

Genuine LR 24-spline axles aren't much stronger. They downgraded the quality of the steel about the time they changed from 10 to 24 spline. But SIII salisbury 24-spline axles aren't too bad.

thanks for the info, the 3.54's sound like they would be good in my current landy to make it a bit better on the highway. I think the Salisbury might be the way to go with the 88" i want to build, they do seem to be bullet proof.
A mate of mine with an 88 seems to go through 10 splines like their out of fashion, but he might just be a bit retarded with the whole accelerator and clutch thing :p

When I welded the SWB mounts on I had the diff nose about 10-15mm lower than inline with the prop shaft to allow for the nose of the diff to torque upwards during hill climbs etc. No vibration at all, works very well. I have put 3 salisburys in SWB's all have been ok including a P76 V8 powered one. 2 have been series 3 LWB diffs, the other was a stage 1 diff (higher ratio) for the V8 powered one. Don't pi$$ around with a rover diff, put in a salisbury. You wont regret it.;)

Id want a longer spline and youd have to jig the diff a bit higher in the front which will make life hard on the UJ's but it should be doable...

If your interested we might be selling a standard 110 county sals diff in afew months.

Ok thanks, let me know if you do sell it. At the moment i am probably going to retire Yellow Pezza in the near future, to make way for the 88" project (yellow pezza junior :D ), so the Sals may just come out of it.
