Disco are 3.54:1, series are 4.7:1. With 3.54s it would be quiet on the highway, but hopeless offroad and you would be using 3rd in 60 zones. You can fit 4.7s to a coiller centre, but you need a spacer for the crownwheel. MDE used to make one, but not sure if anyone else does now they have closed - maybe ARB?
Sals halfshafts (axles) are shorter - which is why you would need custom axles.
Genuine LR 24-spline axles aren't much stronger. They downgraded the quality of the steel about the time they changed from 10 to 24 spline. But SIII salisbury 24-spline axles aren't too bad.
