G'day all
I'm getting a drip-drip-drip leak from the transfer case breather pipe up at the firewall. Mainly happens driving up long hills having dropped down a gear or two.
I suspect that the one-way leak from gearbox to transfer case which I seem to have is causing the t/case to over-fill as well as pressurising it when it gets hot, thereby forcing oil up the pipe.
I have checked the breathers as best as I can and both seem to be completely clear. However it's impossible to take the breather off the gearbox without partially dismantling the gearbox - duh - but I can blow down it (NB it's a Borg Warner T5 box).
Any ideas on sorting this out would be welcome...
Thanks

Hi Chris
From memory this is quite an issue in early tojo transfer/5 speed gearbox. As far as I remember the fix is to allow the transfercase breather to empty back into the gearbox via a new tapped fitting.IE the transfercase is vented thru the gearbox.
As yours is a unheard of conversion it may be worth trying to contact the converter for further info.
Goodluck
