    Disco 2 auto trans dipstick

    G'day all,
Recently fitted a dipstick tube to a D2 Td5 auto so the owner can check his trans oil instead of grubbing around under the vehicle with a hex key set etc.

I purchased a P38a dipstick tube, stick and oil pan from TRS in Adelaide, fits easily and comes out on the Passenger side rear of the Td5 engine, behind the plastic top cover. You may need to trim a small amount off the rear of the cover and a stiffener bracket can be fabbed from the cover attaching bolt at the rear LH side to support the top of the tube.

    Easy job and looks factory.

I've had this also, except I had a D1 pan and dipstick I think it was.

I got it because I was having auto problems at the time, and got rid of it a little later as the pressure in the box kept popping the end of the dipstick out which would break the seal. I dunno what the breather was doing to allow that to happen.

I tried the D1 pan and tube Simon, but the P38a one fits neater, as it misses all the fuel lines and fuel block, fuel warmer pipes etc.

Gday JC. Oh... maybe it wasn't a D1 one that I had then. This one basically ran up the firewall, touching it at one point. ood job on the p38 kit though, it sounds like its the go.
    Cheers

Is the P38A dip stick tube longer than the Disco 1?
