Defender 99 TD5 coolant loss

I havent any suggestions, but for the record I have had the same symptoms on my 99 TD5 since I bought it 3 years ago. I should say "symptom" in singular, because apart from the dissappearing liquid I can find nothing else abnormal.
I havent really stressed about finding a leak and have topped up regularly. It does not seem to be getting any worse.

Its looks like the coolant loss problem has been rectified with a new header tank cap:). I notice the top hose is now pressurised though with a little effort it can be compressed.

You might want to check your coolant for exhaust gases. There is a test kit that can detect CO in the reservior that your mechanic might have. If your system is pressurising it may be a sign of your headgasket leaking. I'd get if checked sooner rather than later. I just had a 5k repair bill for the headgasket and injectors that the mechanic somehow stuffed.

How many times have you heard someone say "Trade the car in" because it needs money spent on it

Glad to hear that it was a easy repair .... But take the time to do the CO test as XSiV suggested .... as this will give prior warning of whats to come before it gets expensive

When we were chating about it the other day there was another check I forgot to mention,still worth doing as it can stay there for ever.
Get a small coke bottle and cable tie it in place with the overflow tube from the headertank inside.Any released coolant will be caught for you to see.
