Visit your local CAT dealer(Caterpillar) grab a battery from them.MADE to SURVIVE in earthmoving equipment.
I got a Calcium 1000CCA for $189.00 from Westrac Guildford WA.You wont go anywhere near that in an auto shop. That was as a walk in cash buyer,no Shire worker discount!!! 5 year warranty!!!!
They are slightly bigger than the standard size but fit a D2 fine,I had to change battery lead ends to suit, but was easy and the D2 ones were stuffed anyhow.
Goodluck
Andrew
Thanks guys,
I found the receipt :cool:
Well, the Visa statement anyway. March 16th 2007. So its still under the two year warranty.
I bought it two months after the new alternator so its never gone flat,- until lately anyway.
The RACV says the charge, leads, starter are all fine, so I reckon I have a pretty good case.
I think I'll go up to an optima bluetop as it claims to be 750 CCA.
The MRV series is a good unit I have a MRV87 on the left to run the fridge and other goddies and its also a simple hook up as a secondary cranker and on the right i run the same size gold series MF31-930 they both required some triming and minor mods to fit but they sure do have some cranking power and the allrounder will run the freezer for 3 days without a run to charge it back up ....
Woohoo:banana::arms::clap2:
I got a new battery under warranty today.
Full marks to Marshall batteries at Dandenong (they advertise in the Vic Land Rover Owners mag).
I took Debs Disco in after charging the battery last night and they tested it as faulty & swapped a new one quite happily.
I said I'd like to upgrade to a bluetop & the manager said I would be wasting my money. It appears they rate thier batteries @ minus 18 deg celcius and the 550 CCA thumps out 850 at ambient temp and a bluetop would be sending a man on a boys job.
I could'nt be happier with the service & advice.
Part No looks to be 175-4390,unless some is covered by the battery clamp.Cant give sizes without removing,it isnt much bigger than a standard 4WD battery.Sizes are on the website.
Search Cat Bateries on Google,P.S its much easier to use the US CAT site, you need to register to use Aussie CAT sites,go figure!!!
