Rebuild kit is $800
Crank ?????
Friend is saying drop a petrol in it and be done with the evil thing.
I have joined the pajero club forum.
And yes the harmonic balance is a common problem with japero's.

Will the engine still crank with the key???
If it will put a socket on the bolt and breaker bar and wedge it against the chassis the way it wants to rotate.A quick turn of the key will loosen it;););););)(pays to disconect diesel solenoid so it wont start)
It does work as I had the pleasure several times in TRYTOO ownership.
Goodluck

Hi Edd
Is it a keeper???
If so,do you know you can buy brand new complete crate motors(inc turbo, fan, alternator etc) for around $4500!!!
They are built by hyundai(they bought the licence) and have a higher power output than mitsi had.
I will see if I can find the importer.
Andrew
Edd I dont have a copy of 4x4 Trader to look the add up,tried a quick google but no luck.
If you do get a S/H import pay a little more and get the intercooled version:cool::cool::cool:,you will need to cut a hole in the bonnet and fit a GU style scoop. They go quite well.
Andrew
Edd,
Just sent you a PM.

Andrew.
Had another thought on how to get that bolt out ;)
You can buy a spray can of "freeze" ... (dry ice in a can)
Warm up the crank .... then freeze the bolt .... then give it a yank
Make sure you don't get freeze on the crank
This method should open the crank & shrink the bolt :)

:)
For those interested the timing has been redone and the harmonic balance is off. Just have to get the rest of the broken bolt out next:angel:.
Edd, you have the worst automotive luck out of anyone i know. I hope you sort it soon.
Getting the bolt out when its broken  and it wouldnt come out when it wasnt broken  Im glad its you and not me mate, i hate stubborn bolts and rounded off or broken ones are just not good. Good luck with it mate.
