You need to wire them through a relay that is triggered by the high beam circuit of the headlights.

Traxide (drivesafe on the forum) sells kits or you can buy the materials and make a loom up yourself or get a generic one from ARB or others. If you're unsure and need the information and what to do simply layed out I'd recommend the traxide kit as it is very well documented, most other made up looms are not documented.

Yes the traxide combo kit will not only get your driving ights working but also improve the brightness of your headlights.

And it's idiot proof....and don't ask me how I know.

If you open the bonnet on the right hand side of the engine bay there are a bunch of wires going into the cabin directly underneath the brake booster, if you peel back the casing there is a blue wire with an orange strip. This is the wire you need to tap into.

You will need to run a wire going from the battery to the relay. I have got a circuit breaker rather than a fuse inbetween the relay and battery, and then on the other side of the relay the wires hook up to the spotlights.

You will need to use the wire you have tapped into the blue / orange wire to go into the relay, this is the switching circuit so when you turn the high beams on the relay will switch the circuit and complete the circuit going from the battery to the spotlights.

Make sure you use some decent cable as the smoke will come out of the wires if you use the wrong gauge. I've got 4x 100w IPF's and the wire I'm using is 50amp wiring. 40amp circuit breaker and 2x 20 amp relays (each pair runs to a seperate relay).

Depending on what state you are in, you will need to hook up a switch so that it can isolate the circuit with the high beams on. I'm in WA and had to do this. all I did was put a switch between the wire that I tapped into the blue / orange wire so that when the switch is off, the circuit is incomplete so that the relay doesn't switch the circuit.

Drivesafe is the person to goto if your in doubt about wire gauges and what relays you will need.

I you dont know then buy Drivesafes kit, all the guess work is then gone and will mean a much more reliable job.

The think you need to remember when working on a 4wd over a normal car is that the 4wd goes through mid, water and lots and lots of dust and vibrations so all the connections and fittings need to be done a lot better than you would get away with on a road car.

Scotch locks are not recomended for this, solder and shrink wrap are the best way to tap into a wire and when mounting relays etc make sure everything sits neatly and nothing has pressure on it or it will pull plugs off and thing wont work as desired before long.
