    Dizzy Problems 1985 RRC

I have an 85 3.5litre with an electronic dizzy that appears to be a normal serial number match except for a ERR 1250 or similar on the side and not a DRR for the usual dizzy. The rotor buttons I have tried according to the parts catalogue are too high in that I cannot get the distributor cap over the rotor. I have bought a new cap and rotor but no joy. Any ideas as to why the rotor stops the cap from going on?

Silly question but are you seating the rotor button properly , and have it seated in the slot on the dizzy shaft

I also had a similar problem lately. Bought a new genuine cap and rotor from Ritters. The cap fitted so tightly that the friction on the centre contact stopped the advance from working. Solved the problem by removing the centre contact from the cap and replacing it with old worn one. When I questioned them about it I was told there used to be two height rotors but they thought that only one had been available for some time. I replaced the whole distributor with a Scorcher one as the old one was due for a rebuild anyway.
