TRUE TRAC, how are they performing

Just wondering how all the true trac's are performing. Seems there was a few reports early on after the bulk buy, so what are your thoughts now, are they performing to your ideals still. If you did it again would you still use the true trac or fit an altenate locking system
    cheers

I don't have one, but I have witnessed a few in action close up. I was quite shocked to see that is you lift a wheel they do NOTHING! While both wheels are on the ground they work well though. Some people ride the grakes when they lift a wheel to get it working again.

I would happily run one on a touring rig, and will get one for my 110 if I can get one for less than an ARB locker, but I wouldn't run one on a play rig unless I had TC as well.

    That's what I've seen too.

I'm not impressed & would consider manual locks if I was to ever think of cheating .

Well I'm confused - so what's the advantage then over just having a standard open diff ?

I have been very happy with the TruTrac in the rear of my Rangie. It makes a significant improvement to the offroad capability while not detracting from onroad driving.

While they don't act as an lsd when one wheel is completely in the air they do make a difference in low traction conditions. I rarely (almost never) lift wheels off the ground when driving. Maybe that is a reflection on the driving I do .

As long as both wheels have SOME ground contact then it works well. When there is NO resistance at one wheel then it acts like an open diff. Some people ride the brakes when they lift a wheel to get around this.

Whats the better application though, front or rear, if your just going to do one??
I need to look at my front diff shortly. Most of my play is beach and dunes so not too many occasions where you lift a wheel, however getting drive to both donuts on the same axle in soft sand is a benefit.

You could run them either end. Rear will (usually) give the most benefit if you have 2 open diffs.
