    overheating or i thought ??

    Hi to all.
    just had the thermostat ,viscous coupling and new 4 core radiator placed in the 130 and it sits about half way on the gauge.
    When i turn the headlights on it gose to 3/4 on the gauge and with the spot lights it gose in the red .
    any ideas.

    overheating or i thought

    my first thought is an earth problem. Had similar on an xf ute. when lights went on engine stalled, lights off went like a rocket. blinkers on intermintent miss. ran a new earth from battery to chasis. problem fixed. hope this helps

    Very, very common instrument earthing problem in Defenders.

    I fitted a mechanical temp gauge, as I could never trust the OE one.

    problem solved

    Hey guys it was the earthing problem and thank you for the information (great help )
    Also now have a bullet proof cooling system after all the dollars ive spent !!
