Contaminated fuel system tdi 300 Disco
I have replaced the fuel filter and scrubbed out the sedimenter ( which was full of crud and water), this has pretty much cured my sudden loss of power/surging when underload, but am still noticing a bit of an occassional " flat spot" when reaching high revs on gear changes, I am assuming that there may still be some fuel contamination causing the starvation so I plan to remove the tank and give it a clean. Are there any hints or products I can use to clean the the fuel system ?

check all your turbo hoses just in case one is collapsing, went through this a couple weeks ago and my disco300tdi continuely give symptoms of air in fuel.

Sounds like air is getting into the fuel system somewhere.
Check if the sedimenter and fuel filter sealed correctly.
Also check to see if your lift pump has gone.
Open the bleeder bolt on top of the fuel filter, pump the lift pump lever - to the left of the injection pump and down. You might need to turn the engine over to engage the lift pump with the cam. If you don't get a positive feel and fuel ****ing - enthusiastically flowing - out of the bleed bolt, you've got a stuffed lift pump.
It's a pretty common thing.
Cheers

As said ealier, I replaced fuel filter, cleaner sedimate bowl and resealed with new seals, replace filter and housing to a cav type unit (this was later removed and standard one put back on), fuel pump replaced because connection to diaphram broken), Fuel suction line removed to check for pin holes and possiblity of air ingress. Sit 10 drum on bonnet and run pickup straight to filter by passing all other componnets because I was still chasing air. Double check and triple check all of the above. At this stage I was thinking fuel shut off solinoid valve which (being pommie import) has tamper proof bolts holding it on. Frustated at this point and was about to pull off pump. Got on the phone to an old mate (mechanic) and he sugested maybe a turbo hose and it was the 90 degree hose at the turbo. 2 days and a lot of stress.

Also a big thanks to JC

I changed the 90 deg hose from the turbo last week as it had a split, this was after i had a terrible squeal and loss of power. I have noticed that the other end of this hose leading to the intercooler has gone very soft so I will be changing that too. I will be checking the lift pump in the morning
