Oil change intervals
Just changed the engine oil and oil filter in my D2 V8, and boy was it in need of it. I plead guilty of using the vehicle in a manner inappropriate for it: short urban runs - but after just 5 months and approx 2000km in there, the oil came out like black water! Not sure what oil the LR mech (ATV) put in it ('Castrol Professional' says the sticker on the windscreen) but I am glad I changed it when I did. I think there was probably a bit of unburnt fuel and moisture in there, so I might cut down the change to every 3 months - or try not to use the car for so many short trips. Just hard to not find an excuse to fire up that V8...
I was gnashing my teeth a lot about what oil is best to put in it, and nearly fell for the trap of reading all the threads on what oil everyone uses. Ended up with Castrol Magnatec - 10w-40 which is LR's specification grade for the low-comp D2 V8.

Hi
The good old oil story.
Good oil should last much longer given proper filtration.
I now use penrite LPG cause its on LPG but mainly cause it part synthetic and cheap in comparison to Mobil etc.
i change filter every time and oil is not bad actually.
I do every 5-6 months regardless of K's.

I did my Rangie yesterday. Castrol GTX2.
I am doing 1000 km a month or more these days, so oil change time comes around pretty regularly.

I am due to change my oil again next month. According the the sticker I still have 8000 km to go before it is due based on km, but it gets changed anyway.
