    D2 Front diff harmonic balancer?

I have just replaced the two universal joints on the rear of my front tailshaft trying to fix a vibration that comes in at 60k up to 80k and is only under acceleration.
    Test drive ....no difference
While I was under the car I noticed there is a huge weight (I am calling it a harmonic balancer?) on the rear diff but not the front diff.
I remember my D1 had one on the front and there is two threaded holes in the bottom of the diff.
Should there be one on the front diff and should this fix my vibration??
    Thanks in advance

Might be an obvious question, but have you checked your donut? I had a similar vibration at 90-100km/hr and it was the donut.

I have the weight on the front diff ... Not the rear .... But mine is RRC

Also check your engine mounts ... If 1 is cracked ... this will also show up as a strange vibration

And also as McDisco says .... check the front tailshaft

Mike beat me to it. Engine mount - especially if it only happens with right foot down.

On my RRC it happened when turning right and could tell it was from front left, so assumed LH front wheel bearings or CV. Nup, after a lot of time it was just extractors touching chassis rail due to dud engine mount.

    HTH, cheers.

Thanks i did look at the donut it seemed fine, glanced at the engine mounts will have a better look tomorrow.
I did notice a large dent in the floor pan above the uni joint where it must have let go before making me think the weight was knocked off or not replaced(if it was ever there???)

Simple... If you have a CDL

Drop front shaft out and lock CDL.
    Go for drive...
    Vibration gone? Front shaft!
Vibration NOT gone? Keep looking old son!
