    Gutter mounted roof racks

Anyone here had a crack at making their own roof racks? Im thinking of doing (a half roof rack) this but wanted to see if anyone had done their own and what experiences (good and bad) they encountered. Im thinking of the Keep It Simple method would suit best.

Attached is a sample of the clamp I think would be best.

Where have you sourced the clamps from?

A classic roof rack is pretty simple, and I have one if you want the pattern (actually, I wouldn't mind selling it or swapping for a disco rack). It's fully gal, full length.

Disco is a bit harder due to the drop.

I have the same mounts on my WindCheetah roof rack (which is essentially a Rackmaster from OL). Very secure...didnt have to tighten it on my last Simmo trip. Although mine has a grub screw that goes through the shroud around the thread which clamps down onto the thread to stop it moving...if you get what I mean.

I also have the Wind Cheetah rack...the grub screw is a very good idea that also prevents the clamp from pulling away from the underside of the gutter as you tighten it down.
