How did you break a H260. They are truck like:eek: I was close to slipping an easy locker into my 24 spline. I think it would have been a big mistake. I am only going to be running 285/75X16s. Wont be as hard on things as 35s or bigger.

Mmmm was with a warm 350 Chev doing a tractor pull
My point is most people are not breaking 24 spline Maxi axles even with Maxis or detroits.
Ill say it again nothing is unbreakable sometimes vehicles just get used for things that they shouldnt, use them sensibly and you should be fine.
Toyota axles seem to go at about 6900 ft pound and I think Maxis go at about 5700 ft pound so there is a bit of a difference
I have seen over 12 ton towed with a Series 2 88 inch with 10 spline axles in fact if you look on Youtube you will find a Range Rover Classic doing burnouts with 10 spline axles

I will replace my Maxi axles when I break them but they have held up so far

I'm not replacing Maxi Axles I have to purchase new, so why not go bigger while the oppurtunity is there:D

Slunnie's right about this particular breakage. The downward pressure of the snatch strap meant wheel spin was impossible, & something had to give. Why it wasn't the strap letting go we'll never know! Would have been cheaper..

Most of the breakages happen when recovering someone else. Case in point is the P38A diff. When the 4th cw&P stripped teeth during a snatch, that's the moment a Salisbury conversion became reality.

Its towing the dead rovers that causes the problems:angel:

I think my mates 355 he's building for his GQ shorty may just have the edge over the 4BD1:(..............till he runs out of fuel:D

A 355:eek: No doubt it will go round the 4BD1 but for how long? The Nissan running gear will put up with it for a wile. Couldn't be much worse for the drive line than that horrible transmission hammer they get with the 4.2 though. I hate it:mad:

I hope my Rangie doesn't fall into the recovered Rover group when I make it down your way.;)

I can see why you need a majorly tough rear end.

The motor will last forever, new everything, 9.5:1 comp, just nice:cool:

T700 that's seen 300,000 kays will be next on the list:D
