Be interesting what the out come is here as I need to lock the Sals in my 120 and have a spare 110 sals to go in my 4.4 Tractor tyred Rangie. I'm thinking CIG for the Rangie as its 100% off road now![]()
Hey Tony, how the hell did you dig this up? I was just looking at it..
I'm thinking, Detroit and 30 splines, for 2 reasons, ease of set up and I don;t really wanna run different bearings front to rear and custom stubs, cause if a stub fails, its a 1 off unit and not easily/quickly sourced
Having a mate invite me to do the Gibb River road in August has prompted some serious thought about reliability![]()
User CP.... I like the sals even though they're a grader blade
I want to lock my 120 and thinking esylocker. Have a ARB out of the Disco for the front. A mate of mine here has a 454 Chev blazer on 44's with Detroited Dana 60 and it is tough as. You won't break it with the 4BD1. It would screw the uni out 1st. Bit nasty if you floor it on a wet round about though in 2wd![]()
I have never broken a sals here. Not even with a turboed 202 in a series 3. They are a bloody strong diff as you know even in standard dress.
I'd back 30 spline for a Rangie... If you do something radical enough to smash the 30 spline your front end will be in splinters anyway.
The prob is the axles. Even the maxis break in them, something I've seen in a snatch.
Matt, it may be worth emailing ARB or Dbongard on Outers who is the Airlocker supervisor. He gave me the low down on adapting the current series ARB locker for the Patrol to run Toy30sp axles, he may be able to do the same with the Salsbury to 30 spline.
