Yeah, I've had mine rebuilt this year after 350k. Wasn't slipping though, just burnt oil. Cost $2200 with me doing the remove/refit. Brisbane.

There is a reputable transmission workshop here in Newy who are doing a full diagnostics test on it on Monday. Spoke to one of the technicians on the phone, he was saying they can do the full rebuild here locally, but just wondering if I get them to enquire about the exchange option as well.

The remove, refit option sounds good to keep the costs down. I have had the pleasure of a few engine rebuilds in the past, so I should be able to manage a transmission removal and installation, it's just whether I can be bothered (ie how much would it save).

    Cheers

I think remove/refit was going to be about $600 on mine. Full time student so every dollar counts.

I've had mine rebuilt by A&B in Dandenong in Melbourne and the guys there are really good to deal with. I'm not sure if they deal direct with the public though so you may have to go through your local landy guy.

Yeah thanks about A&B, they don't deal direct with the public, but I am organising through local guy to get a fully rebuilt exchange unti from A&B shipped to them. I've decided to get the local mechanic to do the transfer, so I'm up for the labour cost as well. I don't have the gear to do it at home.

Shame of the timing is that no one is open during christmas. Will have to wait till 2nd week in January to get it done.

    Thanks for your help guys
