its a td5, like all computer controlled engines if the main battery voltage drops below 10.5v you can drop the computer off. No computer, no injetion.
If your battery does that while winching and the alternators not keeping pace you may find yourself unable to restart without a jump pack or someone elses assistance.
I suggest that you fit it to the aux battery with a current limiting charging system fitted OR a method of disconnecting the charger from the battery while winching (my prefered method is to charge aux batteries off of the second output of the alternator if its available or supplies)
That Said
I know plenty of people who have had no problems winching off of the main battery on a TD5 although they generally dont use it for winchathons.
If the main battery is your only cranking battery then its your only shot a winch will kill a deep cycle battery.
