the reason why cycling the gears or letting it idle in N for a bit works is because you're giving the pump the time to fill the TC...

Thanks for all the replies I will start with changing the oil and filter see if that helps. I also not happy with 1st gear either seems slow but some of my worries may be miss guided, as I also own an 80 series cruiser 4.5 auto and I think that I may be comparing the 2 cars performance
