    Bosch switch for 1981 RR

    Happy New Year all.

Just spent most of the day trying to fix the reversing lights on the 81 2 door.

    Problem:

The suspect switch is a Bosch part no 9 340 061 067. Checked the 'net. No luck.

    More info.

This RR was originally a manual but was one of the early auto conversions done here by Leyland. No hard copy info in either of my manuals regarding this variant. They cut the transfer case off the 4 speed and bolted on a (unknown) brand 3 speed auto. The switch is a rotary that senses when the transmission is in park, reverse and neutral. Having removed the switch, the reversing light still don't work and now (with a bit of electrickery) the RR will start in ANY gear.

Any ideas who may know where to get one of these ancient pieces of technology?

    Hi,

The trans is most likely a Ford C4 or C9 and a switch cost me $25 from a Ford wrecker. Obscene bucks from Ford.

There is a trick with a drill bit to align the switch with the shaft so it will turn over in P & D and the reverse lights work in R. The switch can be adjusted around the shaft.

Is the switch stuffed, wire adrift etc? I can have a look at mine in the am and give you the wire colour codes.

    cheers, DL

    p r switch

Switch is now removed and is stuffed for R and intermittent for P and N.

It has a slotted shaft so it cannot go on wrong.

Will find a camera tomorrow and post a pic

    TNX so far

    Ah Grasshopper,

The centre hole is slotted to stop movement on the selector shaft, but the holes that screws go through onto the trans are also slotted to allow for adjustment by rotation.

If they aren't I don't WTF your tranny is. Borg Warners half sit inside the LT 95 casing and the whole TC thing is moved back about 6". C4's and 9's are stock location.

    cheers, DL

    inhibitor switch

Yup, that is the switch I have got... BUT all searches for bw35 or bw65 show a different switch.

Any idea where I can get the switch in the picture?

    TNX in advance

So this is a Chrysler 727 trans? If so the TC will be an LT 230R, not an LT 95.
Just correct me gently if I'm wrong...........been a long day.
