Leads me to think that the old auto was that buggered that when it was shifting LOTS earlier (ie about 2500 rpms), I thought this was normal, when in actual fact it was courtesy of the shot clutches allowing across the board slippage.
The only thing I have left to do is trial a load on the back and see what the effect the 3rd gear lockup has.
Thanks again for all your advice and help guys :):). Sometimes being a pseudo "home mechanic" creates too many questions where there don't deserve to be any :angel::angel:. Then again I am an engineer by profession, so I tend to question and query things a lot :(:(:o:o:cool::cool:.
