I usually put some gasket sealastic on the splines before I put it together.
1, it helps slow down the oil egress and water ingress
2. it helps slow down the spline wear.
Hey guys When converting bearings to run in oil, what stops oil coming out the splines on the flange ? where the dust cap goes on ?

In theory, your dust cap should be tight enough to seal against leaks. I also read here somewhere that a smear of grease on the cap lip helps.

I had to re-silicone mine a week after.
Since then they've been good. Of course you can go back to 10 spline and forget about rubber caps altogether.
